SISTAR(씨스타) _ TOUCH MY BODY(터치 마이 바디) Review

It has been really been a disappointing summer for K-pop but it seems we may have a redeeming factor in the equation of Summer K-pop releases and it lies with Sistar's comeback. We finally get a good tune and a good video which has not been the case with this year K-pop summer releases from Psy's Tragedy of a song to a disappointing Tara Solo artist singing to a DJ pattern Maker we really hear a good tune and a danceable tune as well.

Music

This has a cute tune and it should be even though we are told to touch the girls' bodies we do not feel nasty . We feel more cute and there is some cute sax keyboard sounds in the song and the girl's rap for us but it feels so fun and like someone typed it is a good summer song it does sound like a summer song of love and it has topped previously summer songs out there. The Introduction of strings is great to re-introduce the  young ladies and then we get rocking and we get a wonderful complexity of catchy rhythm for a change which makes a good pop song and also we do not stray from the simplicity hook to get you interested into the song. Like I said there is rapping in the song but it is not that overbearing I am street hood rat rap you will find girls try to do in the ghetto pop music we have in the states .The girls actually sound cute even when they rap and you do not lose that cool summer K-pop vibe.

Video

We as K-pop fans have been hit hard by a barrage of Sexy videos this year even though they lack the sexuality of American videos which borderline on pornography. I like the look of this video regardless of sexiness. Some K-pop artist have given us a cliche of sexy videos but this is one of the first K-pop groups I have seen that really gives us a few blatant Sexual Innuendos but the thing is Sistars' video makes us forget that by switching shots from sexy to cute to sexy and back to cute one thing these young ladies can say is, it is the summer and we are by the pool so we can wear cute swimsuits and they do. Is there a real sax in this? I hope so if it is real it sounds good in this song oh back to the video this pool shot is great I love it. The pool Shot looks like a photograph well anyways I know they are being sexy but I give them a little bit credit and less negativity for their creativity by not being overly in your face nasty sexy. This is just cute and the girls outfits are cute. They do not look like they are going to be doing S&M stuff which I am glad we can almost think of all this as innocent fun and it has a good track that overcomes that extra sexiness you think you would see in this video. Okay I saw the whipped cream thing and I get it but I could listen to this tune without a video maybe they will release a G version for kids.

효민 Hyomin - Nice Body (With Loco)

I have to admit I was intrigued with the sponsoring of Nice Body on what this was going to be all about you have to give it to the Korean market to really hammer you hard with advertising to peak your interest. Every Time you saw the teaser you heard this music and I thought to myself there is no way they are going to use this music boy was I wrong they did use this music. Well since we are on the music lets review the Music.

Music

 What do I think about this music? Well I have a pattern music maker as do most DJS' and this is something that my Pattern maker would make and then you would rap to it or announce the next song at a wedding. There is nothing really impressive here maybe the organ does a great fill in here or there but not really impressive beats like you would hear from 4-minute or 2NE1. The Singing is very repetitive and after while the chorus can just get on your nerves the most Impressive thing is Loco's rapping he can lay the rhymes down as someone like myself who has rapped in the past I can tell you it is not easy but I thought this was Hyomin's song not Loco. I wished they would of spent more time on this song they needed to add better and fatter beats instead of the repetitive DJ pattern that would be great for rapping not so good for a singer especially with her solo debut. I would had her sing more take some time and get it right but to me she is just spouting the chorus Nice Body. Her singing could be a little more soulful but she sings each verse with no emphasis it has no feeling to it I really do not feel she is into it. I am not into it either when she sings I am kind of just waiting til Loco to rap but this is not his song!! Now as far before LOco Raps again she does put some effort to it but I don't think they cared that much about the music.

At the beginning of the video we see Nice Body make up as the Title which confuses me should that title be for a behind the scenes and not actually part of the video? How many time have you see an actor with makeup on have that they were in make up as the title? There has been a lot of problems with Nice Body well Robin Thicke had accused Hyomin of plagiarizing the car scene that is why we probably do not see the Car scene we were promised in the video. That is okay we still see enough Of Hyomin. The video is rated for all ages and it goes something like this. Hyomin is in a fat suit then we see her walking in the hallway and sometimes on a scooter and the magical golden doughnut. Where do we get those? Where do you get a magical doughnut? Hyomin by the pool, Hyomin Dancing, Loco Rapping. Hyomin's belly and her butt back to her belly and back to her butt. I almost doubt the girl on the pool float is her but who cares.  Are we just overexposed to Hyomin's Nice Body get it! That is the title of the freaking song she did release a dance version of this song so I would be happy to see yours. There is nothing wrong with Hyomin's looks she is beautiful but I like music that is my thing. I will say this. I would do a Dance cover to this song it is worthy of that at least but this music is not really my taste as I said before I do better on faster songs dancing that is. I will say this though the Music is better that PSy's Hangover.

This is a little different than most K-pop songs lyrically but at the same time I do not know if I would go that route of writing a song about a girl going on a diet. This song lyrically does not convey the confidence that  we see Hyomin as being in this video there you have it I am interested in seeing your dance cover soon

 You think with all the soccer I played in my life that it would seem like I would care with what is going on in Brazil but I do not. I am still more of a college basketball fan and I still have to find the time to watch that when I want to. Apparently Sheen Ringo's new song is to root for Japanese Soccer team. She does in this Punk Rock feel video called [NIPPON] I give you the review for Sheen Ringo's [Nippon].

Music

Japan having the second largest music Industry in the world is really doing its best and overcoming the Rock scene predominately held by Americans. Starting out in this song you have this loud train whistle noise starting out then you get a slide hand on an electric guitar which is the common start that this song is starting to rock. You have a beat in the background with drums that is hit to give us a fight feeling to get team Japan going. Something about rock that gets you pumped up to perform your best from the Rocky Eye of the Tiger theme to even Queens We will rock you. You get the feeling that rock was made to pump you up.These neat effects of Rock is nothing new but it brings you back to simpler rock And roll times when guys and girls could take a few chords and electric guitars and some drums and get the crowd moving, no computers, no samples of 80's new wave music and then rapping how hard your thug life  is and that you are clubbers. No one time it was guts,Mics,Guitars,drums, and Rock and Roll. Sheen Ringo's vocals sound good. It does have a feel like you are about to watch an Anime show in this song but that is okay. The music is good and gives you a fight inside to win kind of feel so it serves its purpose. I will talk about these drums I like how they give this metal sound a good Mic and I am talking about the element metal not the genre the actual pounding of metal drums feeling in this song and it helps to rally the troops in so many words as to say root root for Japan!

Video

The video is basic it is black and white and what looks like a wind machine and maybe some slow down effects to give you more a feeling. It is basic Rock N Roll and what sounds like a little classic Japanese chords. The band looks like it is dressed in Samurai dress attire. There is little homage to Japan so it is an Anthem no it is not as sexy as Korea's soccer song but who cares. It,s good to have an old fashioned Old School Rock n Roll for a change.

 I have been impressed with the nationalism and patriotism for each country in the world cup and there is nothing wrong with that to be diverse you have to diversify. Japan has their way of doing things and then we here in America have our way. There is nothing wrong with borders and tribes and loyalty the first line of diversifying is family and the most important loyalty is family. We all have differents ways of doing thing. I think it is better we stay away from each other and behind borders then cross borders trying to make us forcibly unite. I am proud to be American and I sure Sheen Ringo is proud to be Japanese and I am glad for a second in our lives we can root for our countries without blowing each other heads off. Anyways great song I love rock n roll and maybe we will get to see her do some Anime stuff in the future. I know Sheen Ringo is more of an Artist and obviously a Patriot. We will see, she has said before she will retire lets hope not too soon.

So I got to see and hear the new Psy released when it first came out. I did not immediately review because basically I thought I would be far too judgemental to give a review I went ahead and looked at other comments and this helped me get a more base and an accurate more detail review of what I would write regarding Psy's new release. I will say if I felt I did not have to review this I would not listen to this again I just had to listen to it again to figure out what to write what I want to review about in this song and I do not want to hear it again. The critiques that I have seen are not the critiques I would give toward the song. So what I am waiting for? Here is the review.

Oppa What???!!

 My first critique of American pop today is that I feel not part of the genre they forget about me the regular guy it is either songs about partying that I just do not know much about for instance when you Drink until you throw up which is about as much fun as being punched in the nose until you bleed, people who do this are stupid. This song Immediately forgets about me I can't relate I never had drunk alcohol until I threw up but I never have ever cut my ears with a case cutter until my ears bleed either but this song opens up with a horrible chant that makes me wish I was deaf. I get it. The song opening is to imitate the pounding that your head feels the next day when you drunk too much alcohol the night before. I have stubbed my toe and remembering the throbbing my toe feels but I have never wanted anyone to feel like the way I felt when I stubbed my toe on a chair by Imitating the horrible throbbing pain through music. That is the way the opening of Hangover feels like and it makes me wish I was deaf. The music can only be described as bad. It is pounding metallic drums and keyboards that have been used before on cheap yamaha keyboards and a little reggae feel in between that is a good break other than that this music is horrible. It is bad. Okay let me get to the good parts there is nothing wrong with G-dragon or Psy or even Snoop doggy dogg's rapping in this seriously. They are good but could not they for the Millions of dollars they spent on the video or outfits buy better music. Cannot Psy hire the London Orchestra? Could Psy not get the best DJ in the world and then rap to something. You see the thing about rap you do not have to worry about chord progression and melody means nothing you just have to rap to the tempo simple as that. Why in God's green Earth did you pick this music Psy????

 There is nothing wrong with this video it is funny and I get the song is supposed to be funny but I would have picked Weird Al instead of Snoop Dogg to team with my opinion but it is humorous and I hope kids learn that Alcohol is not a good drug by watching but we will see. The old Korean Ladies are funny and it is clever and the Karaoke scene and G-dragon all that is fun to watch and right now I am watching the video with the sound down because again the music is awful. The point is the video is to get you the feeling of a night of partying with snoop dogg and Psy. We have a retelling of many stories about drinking You see Psy's head in the toilet and a shot of him and Snoop dogg brushing his teeth to get the vomit taste out of his mouth to the feeling of being on a ship to remind us what a drunk feels like when he has been drinking to much well this video does capture the after effects of drinking and the funny story from the night before which leads to the Hangover, Hangover, Hangover.
